In the wake of a man who murdered someone live on Facebook, the Social Network Says It Failed to Bar Posts With Hate Speech, explicit violence and exploitation against children, acknowledging that its “safety systems” have not worked effectively. Now, an online petition led by Heroes Rising has over 11,000 people demanding that the Facebook blocks and bans pages and posts depicting violence and human rights violations.

“Now it is time we force them to block violence, hate speech, and illicit images of children and other forms of abuse. Tell Facebook Advertisers that their businesses will lose if they remain on the Social Network,” the petition says.

Heroes Rising petition leaders write, “Facebook Must Do Whatever It Takes To Block this content. We will not tolerate this abuse any longer. And we will not support advertisers who allow these images, videos and links to be posted along with their products.”

Signing this petition tells Facebook Advertisers that you want them to protect users of the Social Network. It also allows us to build a stronger team – all of us! – to keep the pressure on Facebook through the loss of advertising income.
